CT300SS Series Air Vent - PRODUCT DATA BULLETIN
CT300SS Series Air Vent - INSTALLATION, OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL

Model 'CT300SS'

Straightway pattern two-piece stainless steel body with integral stainless steel screen. Supplied in 1/2" to 1" sizes with npt ends for service conditions ranging from 25"Hg vacuum to 300 psig saturated steam service.

Thermostatic vents for steam systems are for the removal of unwanted entrained gasses which act as an insulator on heating surfaces and which can be absorbed into the condensate as it cools. Condensate that absorbs the present carbon dioxide becomes corrosive, resulting in the 'etching' common to many return lines.

Introduction N/A
The Colton balanced pressure thermostatic air vent is designed to automatically vent air from steam mains and equipment.
Warning N/A
Piping systems can be dangerous - safety precautions must be observed. Before working on equipment, make sure that it has been isolated and the pressure has been released.
Installation N/A
The maximum differential pressure stamped on the nameplate must be greater than the maximum operating pressureof the system.

Install with the body in the upright position (as shown below) on a relatively short vertical inlet nipple.

Air vents should be installed at all high points of the system, at specified intervals along horizontal runs of pipe and atall indicated pieces of equipment. A shut-off valve should be installed on the inlet piping and we recommend that theoutlet be piped to drain to avoid any potential damage that may be caused by eventual leakage or failure.
Maintenance N/A
The thermostatic element should be inspected periodically and all scale or deposits removed from the disc and seat.

Worn parts must be replaced.
